eye sight/eye health
I have recently taken a special interest in the nutritional implications regarding eye sight and in particular age related problems. This has come about because a family member has been diagnosed with AGE RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION. |
It would appear that most people, and in deed some Opticians, GPs and other medical professionals believe that once sight deteriorates, usually with advancing years, there is not much to be done except wear stronger glasses. Eventually even the strongest glasses are not enough.
Well - I am pleased to be able to say there IS actually much that can be done by improving the diet ( why am I not surprised by that ??) and by taking particular supplements that target the eyes with the nutrients they need to support good sight. Another absolute essential is to GIVE UP SMOKING as nicotine destroys lutein - one of the essential eye nutrients. About 2 years ago, I noticed my own night vision whilst driving was decreasing and also my peripheral vision by day was also worsening. I decided to put myself on a program of specific eye supplements to see if I could actually prevent the deterioration I was experiencing, or at least halt the progression. (My diet, fortunately, was already Ok with regard to eye health). I am delighted to say that there has been a vast improvement in both my night vision and peripheral range. Further more, there was noticeable improvement after only 4 weeks with the supplement ! For people with a degenerative eye condition such as AMD the most important thing to do is to preserve the health of the remaining macular and prevent further deterioration. This can be done by attention to diet and a special supplement. IT IS NOT TOO LATE ! So, If you have been told to go away and accept your lot - DON'T. Come and see me and find out how to help yourself and save your sight. |
